Intimidation & Provocation Towards Forum Members
On Saturday 22nd March 2014 the Sikh Forum held a pre-arranged meeting that had been delayed from earlier in the month due to a month long programme clashing with our meeting. On this same day there was also another event going on in the hall 4 langar hall which is adjacent to the meeting room where our meeting was due to be held.
Upon arrival of our members there was a large group of young men associated to the event inside and one of them was also a committee member, were standing around out side the entrance to hall 4, which some of our senior members found intimidating especially the female members. As they were being asked by the group where they were going, which in it self does not sound so bad, but when the whole group is asking you whilst standing there in a crowd it can seem a little intimidating.
It did not stop there as they then asked if they could attend our meeting and they were informed rightfully that it was private members only meeting, so they stood outside the meeting room which has a large window looking out on to the hall 4 foyer. This group has then stood out there giving dirty looks towards our members through this window which was commented on and our members were absolutely disgusted and shocked by this type of behaviour inside the Gurdwara Sahib.
Some members of this group then followed one of our members in to the meeting room when he arrived slightly late who mistakenly informed them that they were welcome to sit in when they asked him the same question they already knew the answer to. When they were again politely asked to leave they made a comment before leaving "they are scared ", which our members found extremely offensive and inflammatory.
So the following letter was sent to the committee making them aware of this behaviour and asking for this matter to be addressed by them, but again we have not received any response from the committee.
